Facilities

 

During the past two years, a comprehensive expansion program has been in progress to develop the production facilities of the company. WESCOSA has expanded its factory facility by adding a further 22,000 Sq. meters of production and office areas. This includes dedicated areas for the assembly of Power Transformers, MV and LV switchgears, Busducts and cable trays, Machine shop to support production activities, a dedicated calibration laboratory and a well-planned warehouse facility.

WESCOSA functional operations which includes design, production/assembly, testing and packaging are carried out by using the most advanced and latest plant machinery, production equipments and tools, testing and inspection equipment, most of which are numerically controlled.

The following are some of the electronically controlled machinery and equipment items, which will provide a brief idea about the technology deployed in the WESCOSA factory:

  • CUT CORE LAMINATION MACHINE: This machine is capable of cutting all core-laminated sheets in different sizes, with regard to transformer kVA ratings.
  • TRANSFORMER FIN FOLDING MACHINE: The Cooling Fins for WESCOSA transformers are manufactured in this machine. This machine has been in production line since 1994 and is made by a leading Australian engineering company.
  • CORE WRAPPER: Two machines for the production of Transformer Cores wound (shell) type, were purchased from USA. WESCOSA has an additional German machine, which makes the Cut Core Lamination for other designs.
  • CNC PUNCHING MACHINE: Three Japanese made machines with different capacity are used in the fabrication of steel to the needs and requirements of WESCOSA products.
  • COIL WINDING MACHINE: The LV and HV coils for all WESCOSA transformers winding are manufactured on coil winding machines supplied by well known US winding machine manufacturer. WESCOSA has 13 coil winding machines to cope up the large backlog of transformer orders.
  • ANNEALING FURNACES: Leading US based manufacturing company supplied these machines to WESCOSA. These heavy-duty machines are used to Anneal the Core of transformers with heat.
  • POWDER COATING SYSTEM: This system is used to paint parts of products manufactured by WESCOSA with ease, time efficiency and excellence in painting quality. This machine system was introduced to WESCOSA production line in 1998 and was supplied by US powder coating system manufacturer.
  • LASER CUTTING MACHINE: An advanced technology laser-cutting machine using plasma technology cutting is used very intensively for all WESCOSA products that have high thickness steel. This machine can cut up to 20 mm Mild Steel with excelling finish quality.
  • LIGHT GAUGE PURLIN ROLL FORMER MACHINE: A Machine producing rungs of different length and sizes that are used as accessories for making Cable Ladder as part of Cable Trays product.
  • S.P. RATED ROLL FORMER MACHINE: A machine that provides Unistrut as a finish product with various length dimensions and accessories as a bracket or support for cable trays and ladders and cable entry panels.
  • SHEET FEED ROLL FORMER: This roll forming machine can product cable trays product that has different metal part with different sizes and length.
  • 260 TON PRESS BRAKE MACHINE: All the steel parts of WESCOSA products can be easily bended with this machine. This new CNC machine can bend metal materials up to a thickness of 10mm.
  • SHOT BLASTING MACHINE: This flat-track pre-assembled shot blasting system bas wide space of blast room system that can accommodate huge number of transformer tanks and other steel parts of various products.
  • IRON WORKER MACHINE: This is a punching machine that can product different kinds, sizes of holes into thick metal material with accuracy, speed and excellent quality finish.

AS part of the product development to get wider recognition in the global market, WESCOSA has conducted extensive type certification testing at independent laboratories on all transformer ratings offered, whether to ANSI or IEC standards. Our foreign technology partners have conducted all necessary type certification for switchgear products. We also own NV Kema type test certificates for our medium voltage controlgear.

WESCOSA holds the reputation of having the world-renowned ISO 9001 certification for quality standards issued by M/s. KEMA Netherlands. Engineering teams in the quality control sections keep vigilant check on the manufacturing processes to ensure production of quality products by WESCOSA. Individual sections comprising of well-qualified and experienced engineers are assigned to the quality control sections of Transformers and Substations product line and for Low and Medium Voltage Distribution Equipment's, Cable Trays and Distribution Protection Devices. Each quality control section is equipped with the most modern and latest technological testing and measuring equipment's which are calibrated periodically by qualified testing laboratories. The quality control sections are fully prepared at any time, to attend customer calls or after sales needs to serve their needs.

WESCOSA's human resources include highly qualified and well-experienced engineers in their field. The work force includes skilled engineers to handle the Sales, Designing, Planning, Material Procurement, Production, Quality Inspection etc. Qualified Engineering teams constitute the engineering support drafting section for the preparation of Engineering Drawings and other non-material requirements.

WESCOSA makes all possible effort to upgrade the knowledge of its workforce through training processes. External training for employees is provided at licensor's facilities, at competent training centers to enhance the expertise of the employee's capabilities. Training seminars for employees is also arranged in-house at WESCOSA in product related subjects.
